Anticipation

"I just can't wait till Christmas!"

How many times did I say that as a kid? What I didn't understand at the time was that the delicious waiting was part of the fun.

This week while I'm writing furiously on TOUCH OF A THIEF (my current WIP which is due June 1st! It'll be my first Mia Marlowe title next May!) I'm also doing laundry and packing a suitcase. I'm tossing in Victoria Alexander's DESIRES OF A PERFECT LADY, Sherry Thomas's HIS BY NIGHT, and Jennifer Ashley's THE MADNESS OF LORD IAN MACKENZIE. On Friday, my DH and I leave on a cruise to Bermuda.

Yes, you can say it. I'm spoiled rotten.

We try to cruise every year and I look forward to our time aboard ship for months! I close my eyes and hear the waves shushing past us. I smell the briny air. I long for sun-drenched days and starry nights and uninterrupted time to focus on the man I love.

The anticipation stretches out the joy of the journey.

We can celebrate anything with eager expectation. What are you looking forward to?

i look forward to different things at different times of year. BUT, right now, I'm looking forward to my summer break (even though I'll be taking a class and running Shary all over). Yesterday was hectic with grading last minute Iowa History projects, Math/Reading test scores, etc. The next 3 weeks are not going to seem to have enough hours in the day with getting report cards done, cumulative and permanent folders filled out, and Basic Skills scores charted.

My sisters and my mother and all the granddaughters are going to a B and B at the end of June. This is the first year for the gd and I am very much looking forward to some "girl time."

Enjoy your cruise!

Deb--Oh, how I remember looking forward to summer when I was teaching. The kids anticipation had nothing on mine!

I made reservations today for a "Mental Health" vacation. My husband needs a break from work, so we are taking about two weeks. We will be going to South Florida so we can go to the Everglades and down into the Keys. On the way, we will stop for a few days in Orlando to see family and friends. On the way back we will stop in Daytona Beach for a day or so just to break up the drive home. There is also a wildlife area on the way that we want to visit. We were going to add in a 3 day cruise, but our passports are not back yet. We have not been on a cruise yet, One of these days.
It will be nice to get away and have some alone time and not worry about all the work that needs to be done around the house.

I am looking forward to being back on the "mainland" over the summer. Although Hawaii is Paradise, sometimes too much of a good thing can grow tiresome, especially the high cost, heavy traffic, and crazy politics.

I am also looking forward to a weekend at RomCon in Denver and a week at RT in Orlando! While the Internet fills the gap for my romance interaction, I am eager to see my romance friends and hear them talk about the craft!

Pat--That sounds like a lovely itinerary.

When you do cruise, you'll love it. I'm very motion sensitive so I was sick for most of a day on my first cruise (but we had very rough seas and were in a small ship. Now we opt for the big ones and I wear a patch!) The ship itself is a destination. I love exploring it.

Kim--Someday I hope to be able to stay long enough to get tired of Hawaii!
